Roller Shades

The best fabric for motorized roller shades depends on how much light, privacy, and glare control you need in the room. 

• Light-filtering fabric: Softens daylight while keeping the room bright.
• Blackout fabric: Better for bedrooms, nurseries, and media rooms.
• Solar fabric: Helps reduce glare while preserving part of the outdoor view.
• Privacy fabric: Works well for street-facing windows or rooms that need more coverage.

Choose the fabric based on the room’s main problem first, then match the color and style to your interior.

Motorized roller shades work best in rooms where you need daily light control, privacy, and easy operation, such as living rooms, bedrooms, and home offices.

• Living rooms: Keep the space bright while making sunlight easier to manage.
• Bedrooms: Add privacy and make morning or nighttime adjustments easier.

1. Mount the Brackets – Choose an inside or outside mount, mark the screw holes, and pre-drill if needed.
2. Secure the Brackets – Screw them firmly into the frame or wall and make sure they are level.
3. Insert the Shade – Fit the pin end into one bracket, then push the spring-loaded end into the other.
4. Test Operation – Raise and lower the roller shades to check smooth movement. For motorized shades, test the remote or app.

The level of privacy depends on the fabric opacity you choose for your roller shades:

Inside Mount

Width: Measure the inside width of the window opening at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest measurement.

Height: Measure the window height on the left, center, and right. Use the longest measurement.

Outside Mount

Width: Measure the full area you want the shade to cover. Adding about 3–6 inches to the total window width can help reduce light gaps and improve privacy.

Height: Measure from the point where you plan to install the top of the roller blinds down to where you want the bottom rail to stop, usually at the windowsill or below the window trim.
