Maintain motorized blinds with simple routine care:

• Dust weekly with a microfiber cloth or brush attachment, and spot-clean stains with mild soap and a damp cloth.
• Wipe rollers and brackets every 2–3 months, keep side tracks clear, and remove anything blocking the shade.
• Let fabric dry fully before use, operate the shade through full cycles, and stop if you hear grinding or unusual noise.

Inside mounts sit neatly within the frame for a cleaner, built-in look and are often preferred when enough depth is available. 

Outside mounts cover more of the window and can reduce light gaps around shallow or uneven frames. With light-blocking side tracks, both mounting styles can provide effective blackout for bedrooms, nurseries, and media rooms.

Blackout roller shades can still have small light gaps along the sides because the fabric is slightly narrower than the window opening to allow smooth operation. Light-blocking side tracks can help reduce these gaps.
